Tracking certified mail through USPS
Every piece of certified mail gets a unique tracking number. Track delivery at usps.com or through the USPS mobile app. Save screenshots or printouts for each recipient.
Return receipts
If you requested a return receipt (the green card), it will be mailed back with the recipient's signature and delivery date. This is the strongest proof of service available. Keep the original with your project file.
What constitutes valid service
Your NTO is considered served on the date it is mailed, not received. Your certified mail receipt showing the mailing date is your primary proof of timely service.
What to do if delivery fails
If the recipient refused or failed to claim the mail, your NTO may still be valid. Florida courts have generally held that proper mailing to the correct address satisfies the requirement. Keep all records of attempted delivery and returned mail.
